You’re a leisurely traveler. You typically take it easy and discover the energy of a new place by people-watching or soaking in the atmosphere at a local café. You can climb at least one flight of stairs, board a coach, and walk unassisted at a relaxed pace for up to 60 minutes without difficulty. You can easily handle altitudes up to 5,000 feet.
You like a balanced approach to travel. Walking two to three miles over the course of a day is no problem for you. You can partake in a two-hour leisurely walking tour, covering up to two miles (with included breaks). You can handle a variety of terrains, from cobblestone streets to moderate hills with relative ease and without assistance. You can climb two flights of stairs with ease. There may be 1 to 2 days on this tour when walking tours can cover 3 to 4 miles over uneven terrain. You can handle altitudes up to 6,000 feet.
You’re an on-the-go traveler. You don’t want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (2-3 hours) isn’t a big deal. A moderately paced two-and-a-half-hour walking tour, covering several miles, hills, and uneven surfaces, is no problem for you. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable, as is climbing into and out of various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.). You can climb three flights of stairs easily and handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. Expect some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. This level is not a fit for travelers who require mobility assistance devices.
You’re ready to seize the day, whatever it may bring. You lead an active life at home (walking, biking, and half or full day hikes are things you may enjoy) and 10,000 steps a day is normal for you. You can handle longer walking tours (more than 3 hours covering 3+ miles at a steady clip) and activities that involve traversing uneven terrain, steep slopes, standing for periods of time, and varying altitudes and temperatures. You don’t mind being on the go with some early starts, late-nights, and full days. You can handle altitudes of 9,000 feet or higher with little to no issue. This level is not appropriate for travelers who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility assistance devices.

The Eastern Canada trip was a fun filled trip. Our tour guide, Julie Rolleman went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable. She was knowledgeable, organized, cheerful, and friendly. The rest stop locations were timed perfectly and fun (The Big Apple), and Julie gave us our first taste of poutine, beaver tails, and Worthors Maple filled candies. Our tour guide's recommendations for dining and free time were very useful. Our bus driver, Eugene was friendly and safely drove us to all our destinations. The staff, accommodations, and itinerary would make me continue to chose my travels with Collette. -

We learned so much about Eastern Canada. Our accommodations were good and always in great locations for easy access to restaurants, shopping and bars. The tour bus driver was amazing and our tour director was absolutely the best, so knowledgeable, entertaining and high energy!!!

Mr Gregory Roy was an exceptional tour guide. More time should be spent in the Niagara area, skip the boat ride on the big lake, that was the only boring part of the trip. The Sheraton hotel in Montreal had the absolute worst breakfast of all, you wanted $36 on each traveler, the other 3 hotels breakfast were exceptional. I would look for another hotel in Montreal.

Not fond of the Paris hôtel.. no coffee in room and coffee 9.50 à cup .. room small .. would not recommend.. also flight being late and having ro stay in Charlotte for the night in a motel in bad part of town and it had roaches.. Great service just not Nice location !!!

I enjoyed all of the stops on the tour. I was especially impressed with the Niagra Falls experience, and I enjoyed the Quebec experience. The included dinners were excellent. The dinner setting in the former mill was special. The food in all 4 restaurant was outstanding.

Enjoyed the tour. The tour director and bus driver were both incredibly wonderful. There was a little too much time on the bus, I was grateful that the bus wasn’t completely full and we were able to spread out a little. The final dinner was by far and away the best in terms of food and ambiance.

This was my 4th trip with Collette. and I had a few problems. This is the first time the bus was very uncomfortable.I am 5’10” tall with very long legs and my knees were pressing on the seat in front of me making it very uncomfortable on the long bus rides. Also the hotels for most of the trip we’re great but the hotel in Montreal had problems. The tile bathroom floor was appx 1/2” higher than the carpet a very dangerous fall potential.Also the commode was very short and only had walls on each side.I recently had knee replacement surgery plus being tall found this VERY painful to get up. I enjoyed most of the trip and really enjoyed the wonderful meal at the old mill.The Suger shack was interesting but the food was not to my liking.Niagara falls and Niagara by the lake as well as Old Quebec were my favorites .Both the tour guide Leigh and the driver Val were great .

We were happy with all of the tour. The tour director, Daniel, was excellent! Enjoyed all the cities and venues. Some of the meals could have been a little better but they were fine overall. The last hotel in Montreal needed updating. We would have preferred not sitting in the airport in Toronto for 4 hrs for our flight home. Did learn there was a direct flight from Montreal to St. Louis and that would have been nice!

Niagara Falls, 100 Thousand Islands, and Quebec City were our highlights. There was a good mix of planned time and free time. Our Tour Manager, Laurie, filled the travel time between cities with fun facts, songs, and games. She was able to add a memorable stop at the Royal Canadian Mounties Riding Stables, home of the Muscial review. Our bus driver, Eugene, was friendly. He went out of his way to drop us for and pick us up at great places. He was a very safe driver.

The meals were poorly done for the most part. Especially the first two dinners. The first bus driver was ill....probably COVID .... Which exposed everybody. And after he was removed from our trip, he was assigned to another tour, as I understand it! We both came home with COVID. Too many hours traveling from one town to another. Not my cup if tea!!

I purchase magnets for my refridgerator to commemorate places I've been. As I am a slow walker (there were 2 of us), I didn't always get a chance to check out gift shops the first several stops. I had to go on Amazon to get one for Niagara Falls!. Also, I would have appreciated, in Quebec City, knowing that the walk I was taking for ice cream was not "just around the corner" and uphill: I guess I would rather have gone to Chateau Frontenac if I had known that. But, overall, the trip was excellent! The breakfast at the Omni Hotel (a great place) was abysmal; otherwise, the breakfasts were very good; moderate at the Sugar Shack, but it was an interesting place. It was good to spend time at Niagara Falls, and the boat trip will always be a super memory. Micky was great on providing detail and funny videos on the bus, but not much time to "chill" in the chill section of the bus. Grant was fantastic as our bus driver - had some time to chat with him - very interesting guy. Micky recommended a First Nations restaurant in Montreal (?) - any way, 3 of us went, and it was fantastic!

Believe it or not, the different bus rides between cities & attractions along the way. Our excellent guide, Scott Robertson, entertained us with video clips of historical events, tips of things to be seen at the next place we were stopping, celebrities everyone thought were from the US who were actually Canadian, little quizzes on info already given (& already forgotten by many of us), and answering questions with humor that made the miles fly by.

Meals provided were far below expatiations based on four previous Collette tours. Many more details could be given about food but that was already provided in tour survey. No City Tour included of Toronto. Tour length should be one day longer to include Toronto. City tours included ended early in the day with no tours in the afternoons. Too much "FREE TIME" (again comparing with four other Collette tours we have Been on. Overall Tour not a good value for cost of tour

Niagara Falls was amazing. I am not a big city person so my favorite city was Quebec City. Loved the architecture and old buildings. I felt there was to much down time and time on our own that could have been spent seeing other places and things.

Didn’t compare favorably to other tour companies I have used. Tour Manager read information about Canada to us on the bus from his tablet, gave us far too little time to find meals and be back on the bus, made no attempt to get to know people, and started and finished tour with a letter escalating what his tip should be, above and beyond what Colette said pre-tour. Local guides were exceptional but only had two. And tour manager was a complete no show last day so we were totally on our own getting to the airport in shifts for travel home. He did he had a squirrel brain and he was right. No innate organizational skills. One morning we had to have luggage outside doors by 6:15, then we sat and waited for breakfast 7-8:30, and bus left at 9. Why not breakfast and take our own luggage to the bus? Avoid all the sit and wait time and we *know* the luggage is on the bus!

The included meals were okay, but some left a lot to be desired. One of the accommodations was okay but certainly not as good as the the other three locations we stayed. In all it was a good trip and we were able to see and experience many things in a short period of time that we wouldn't have done on our own.

Overall tour was very good. Tour manager was excellent, other guests on motorcoach were fun; everyone connected well and all were punctual. Have visited most places on itinerary before. Sugar shack was great!! Rated 4 stars because breakfast at Delta Hotel in Quebec was awful and air itinerary arrival and departure times were not the most desirable for my group from Los Angeles.

I loved the cities, locations and hotels. Collette was excellent at planning our trip and tour sites. Our hotels were centrally located and within walking distance of many good restaurants and shops. Our tour manager was very nice, but I personally think he got confused and frustrated a few times.

Collette is about making your tour the best. They accomplished this as Dave Poulin was the best Tour Manager/Director I've had on any of my Collette tours. He was like a walking encyclopedia and likely because he was from the area his 'on your own' places to eat lived up to the expectations. Collette has exceptional tours and he made it even better.

The tour guide Kelly was top-notch. The bus driver JR was beyond awesome, our days in eastern Canada were the absolute best. This was my first guided tour it will not be my last. The service was very good, only when we stopped somewhere off the bus we only had time to grab a bite or use the bathroom we didn't have a lot of time to look for souvenirs. We were always having to worry about how much time we had before jumping back on the bus. So basically the trip was very hurried. Also, when I purchased this trip I mentioned it was going to be my husbands birthday when we left for the trip and I was asked if I wanted them to make a note of it, and I said yes, only nothing was done or mentioned on the tour. I've toured with Globus and cosmos and they usually leave chocolates in the room with a note for whatever occasion it is that your celebrating, so I guess that's something that irked me about the trip. Otherwise our guide and the driver were very good at what they do.

I think the top of my list was being at Niagara Falls! However Quebec and Ottawa were full of history and beauty wherever we went. People in Canada were very friendly and welcoming. All the people involved were wonderful. Sorry that the bus was so old and worn. No shades, some of seats wouldn't recline threadbare upholstery. Also loved most all aspects of the trip except for hotel rooms in Quebec City. Our room much like the bus, old worn and cobbled. Others were put in rooms in the newer addition and some of us were in the older part. Beds in older part were terrible and there was road construction going on right outside our windows. Ttwo almost sleepless nights made that part of the trip less enjoyable.

I really liked the knowledge, friendliness, thoughtfulness, and caring, and great organization of the trip that David, our guide, brought to the trip. He has a good sense of humor & worked well with our bus driver. Rene’, our bus driver, got us everywhere on time and safely. I loved the 2 local guides that gave us an excellent tour of Montreal & Quebec. I loved the places we went to see in Canada. It was great that David could give us a first-hand view of his country. He knew all the neat “little places” that gave us a taste of Canada that other people may not have seen. I like that he told us the history about each place we visited, the government, and the beautiful places in each city. Very interesting!

The trip was outstanding. The places we visited and the hotels in which we stayed were fantastic. One of the things I know Collette does is to house us in locations close to the towns we visit so we have access to restaurants and iconic places to see on our own. I ventured out at night by myself and felt perfectly safe.

The absolute best was approaching Niagara Falls from the river as it roared into nothingness. Then walking up to the cascades themselves. To say it was Grand doesn't adequately express the splendor of seeing, hearing, and feeling the Falls.

When we landed in Montreal, Quebec the shuttle service, which I paid for through Collette, to take us from the airport the hotel was not there to pick us up. I had to call via a cell phone and incurred roaming charges, The driver picked us up over an hour late. When we arrived at the hotel I complained to the Tour Coordinator who said she would take care of this issue with Collette and make recompense. She did absolutely nothing! The guided tour through Montreal was underwhelming. The step on tour guide in Quebec City was fantastic! I would go back to Quebec City. Not enough time was spent in Ottawa and Toronto. Niagara on the Lake was a disappointment.

The Tour Guide made a tour that could have been great, less than stellar. Very disappointing. Further, Collette requested information regarding food allergies, but none of the restaurants were able to accommodate my wife or my own special dietary needs. Why does Collette ask for this information if you aren't going to do anything with it?

The Collette Tour Manager was a wealth of knowledge about history of the cities on our tour, as well as the surrounding areas. Our guide in Montreal, Carol LeMeire, and our guide in Quebec City, Debra, both provided so much information about the respective cities. Both very nice and friendly. I learned so much about Canada and all of the cities/areas we visited. Loved the Thousand Island boat ride on the St. Lawrence river, and, of course, the Hornblower boat ride out to Niagara Falls. The meals were delicious and the hotels all nice and comfortable. I tried to take notes and, at the same time, not miss seeing everything, that wished there had been a handout at the end of each day providing a summary of all the places we saw with a little information about it.

Our trip was amazing and Kelly was absolutely wonderful. Would have liked a little more time to shop on day one in the underground mall. Air Canada was the worst. The plane should have been retired years' ago. The air smelled like recycled smoke. We both ended up sick. They also broke Carol's walker. She finally got the part A week after she returned home ! We will NEVER fly Air Canada again.

The problem was Air Canada...the flights were horrible, both going and coming home...they broke my rollator, which I NEED TO WALK, and kept promising t5o get someone to fix it...I had yo use a wheelchair from the hotel in order to get around the first two days...thank god for our tour guide, who got into a cab and located a Scooter store, obtained the replacement part lost by Air Canada, and saved my vacation...I received FOUR replacement parts after my arrival at home, from Scoot-around, paid for by Air Canada, but it was too late.

The tour was well-scheduled, allowing plenty of time for trips, meals, tours. Our Tour director was really friendly and knew her stuff, and truly fun to travel with. I would travel again with Collette. The hotels were beautiful and quite well-located for individual side trips/meals, and my handicap was fully appreciated, except at two dinners, where there were stairs to negotiate. The tour director and restaurant staffs were wonderful in helping me up the stairs, and I didn't miss a moment of this great tour of Canada.

Julie Rolleman, our tour guide, set a welcoming, upbeat tone for the trip. She made the bus rides interesting by sharing what makes Canada unique through its history, music, food, language and more. If an upcoming stop needed context, she provided it. I enjoyed the opportunity to tour the Basilica of Notre Dame in Montreal and our time at St. Anne's later in the tour, but for pure fun, the trip to see how maple water is drawn from trees and made into maple sugar was hard to beat. The combination of a delicious breakfast and Canadian music performed live was a winner!

Really enjoyed the walking tour of Quebec , glad there was an alternative on bus if needed. The sugar shack experience was great. I enjoyed the alternate activity visited the Copper museum and studio . Disappointed that 2 activities, Niagara and *1000 Island boat cruises were understandably cancelled because of weather. However , inclement weather was not unexpected , so I did not understand why an alternate activity had not been planned. (*The underground tunnel at the falls did not suffice. It was cold , flooded and quick!!) Please note we arrived at hotel because of the 1000 island cancellation and although the accommodations were very nice many did not want to spend from 3:00 on in our rooms...and many local restaurants were closed. ) Perhaps a dinner voucher for the hotel could have been provided. Again we enjoyed our tour, but I think some of the activities should have had ‘fall back’ activities planned.

The churches were amazing. Niagara Falls was nice but the weather was not so nice. I would have enjoyed the Falls better had it been better weather. The only negative was the dinner at the steakhouse. My steak was tough and grizzly. Otherwise all the meals were great.

This is our second tour with Collette.Both of them were wonderfully organised, very enjoyable and full of fun and information.We really felt that we knew each destination well even after a relatively short stay.That after all is the whole point of visiting new places and new experiences. The guides are well read and interesting,very friendly and helpful,and endlessly cheerful!They are personable and really look after the group both as a whole and individually, the number one place to go with a question or a problem.We felt totally secure and safe throughout the tour.

A whistlestop tour of four Canadian citites

Well organised throughout. On the downside, we were expected from Toronto at 2pm whereas we came in to Montreal from Heathrow at 5.30pm. As we were picked up by car from our home in the UK we are not sure how this happened. It was only by chance we found the Colette rep at Montreal who was just about to leave with some other passengers.

On this Eastern Canada tour...some memorable excursions should not be a separately ticketed excursion but should be a planned part of the tour..Collette could just add the cost into basic trip price..for example the Mortmorency Falls excursion.

Loved not having to check into hotels, not standing in line for tickets for anything and being dropped off right where we needed to be.

The tour guide Alaister MacPherson was excellent Our hotels were superior The help at the restaurant at the Chateau Laurier in Quebec were rude and surley. we weren't expecting so long a ride to Ottowa. The cruise in Rockport had NO sound on the middle deck so it was a cruise with no info. The poor people who did't book a day ahead never saw the highlights of Montreal as the local tour guide gave a walking tour usually for Germans.No St Joseph Oratory which is a must in Montreal Not even a ride by. Also there was no real tour of Toronto Niagra Falls is wonderful but no Toronto

Altough the cities were beautiful, I felt the tour guide failed to enhance the experience. Some of his comments were inappropriate and a bit off putting. He also reminded everyone he was contracted by Collette not an employee.

The optional tours did not live up to the description and were expensive and they could have been done easily on your own. Boat ride around Toranto was silly and short. Although you were transported to a beautiful park you could not get off the ferry if you wanted to eat the dinner that you paid extra for. Dinner was advertised to be at a “popular restaurant in the heart of the city” which in reality was in our hotel, disappointing

I would have liked the tour better if we has skipped Ottawa and had spend a night at niagra falls to see the falls lit up. We didn't do anything in Ottawa except have dinner. We were traveling with another couple, in fact we were on the same reservation, but we never had a hotel room near each other or even on the same floor.

The selection of all the places we visited, the quality of the hotels we stayed in, all the restaurants included in the tour, and the expertise, friendliness, sense of humor, and endless patience of the tour manager made this one of the very best tours I have ever been on! I was also so impressed with all the extra activities and the guides included from the different areas we visited - it really made everything so special - I was even given a surprise birthday celebration!!! I absolutely loved this tour! I want to also add that I was so impressed and appreciated the excellent service and coordination from the Collette staff during and after making my reservation for this tour. So much was included in this tour it is very difficult to pick just one special experience. I loved ALL the places we visited and would love to return to each of them. It really made me appreciate my Canadian neighbors - and they are such great cooks! The French Canadian food was the best I have ever had, and the service was outstanding. I also learned so much. The cities are beautiful, with such interesting history. I also loved all the gorgeous nature and scenery we passed while in the bus. Canada is so beautiful! It still amazes me how much was included in this tour and how much we were able to see - the planning by Collette was outstanding!

I paid to be picked up at the airport, they didn’t send anyone after I called them to tell of my flight change. The $90 tour in Montreal that was listed as a food tour, was a mediocre lunch, 3 pieces of cheese cubed at a cheese shop, and a scoop of gelato at a ice cream shop. The tour guide took us to the same locations that we had been at in the morning. It was a total waste of money, all the people in our group were very upset!

My overall experience was very good. Beautiful motor coach, great hotels, with one exception, and we ate very well. Great restaurants I wish that Collette used a listening devices for all walking tours. Viking uses these as does Road Scholar. I missed 90 % of what the local guides said. With traffic noise, city construction and over 40 in the group, if you weren't right next to the guide, forget it!

Great restaurants. Loved Le Moulin de St. Laurent and Le Saint Amour. Need listening devices for walking tours! Good hotels except for Chateau Laurier Hotel in Quebec City- small & old rooms, outdated furniture, awful bathrooms, and a maze to get to the room. No tour of Ottawa- only about a 45 minute bus tour. Need to add a day for Ottawa. Only about 30 minutes to see Niagara Falls from the Visitor's Center after making a mad dash to the restrooms. Needed a full hour there. Enjoyed the boat to the base of the falls.

The itinerary and value was very good. Our tour director was very personable and engaging and our driver was friendly and had very good driving skills. It would have been helpful to go over the safety features of our coach (emergency procedures and exits) before starting the tour. Our last dinner in Toronto was below standard as was the dinner at the fish restaurant in Ottowa. Other than those two meals, the hotels, meals and excursions were excellent. I had a great vacation. Living one mile from Canada and having a cabin in Ontario for 35 years gave us some background on the country. The four cities we visited made us feel more like we were in Europe. Canada takes great pride in keeping their history alive with constant reconstruction. They provide OUTSTANDING flowers, parks, and public spaces for all to enjoy and visit. Love traveling in Canada!

She knew her "stuff", but didn't seem as enthusiastic as she should have been. She didn't have envelopes for our survey leaving her access to our comments. We did have a wonderful time and would definitely use Collette again.

I enjoyed the tour and the tour leader was very good and knowledgeable. There were aspects that could be improved. Like having 2 boat trips on the same day. Spending too much time at Niagara on the Lake, resulting in negligible time in Toronto. The time at Niagara on the Lake would have been better spent doing the behind the falls tour and/or the whirlpool visit (I went back the next day to do both of these). The visit to the cheese tasting in Montreal was a bit of a waste of time, or they could have supplied more varieties of cheeses. The choice of hotels was good. I would have preferred a small group to travel with, so much time was wasted getting on and off the bus, maybe a 2 door bus would solve that. The idea of rotating the front seats on the bus is good to give all a fair chance. Loved the time in Quebec City. Yes, I would consider Colette in the future.

I was on phone hold for quite awhile when I called. The tour mgr was great and very knowledgeable but I was expecting more sites to be 'get off' and see. Not just drive by. In fact the driver could have slowed down or pulled over to get a better view. The extra excursion purchased was not worth the money - let us hear about and then TASTE what we just heard about. The tiny tiny pieces of cheese felt like eating the leftover edges of the cheese block.

Our tour guide *personal details removed by Feefo* was fabulous..so knowledgeable and helpful at all times. Some city highlights should have been emphasized more, like the Norte dame basilica in Montreal...we barely passed by in the bus. Lucky for us, we came in the Saturday before tour and we're able to enjoy the Aura lights that night and then really tour it the Sunday, in addition to St. John Oratory. People should get off bus for basilica. Plus, I think water should be free to all. First time we ever paid for water. We have been on Road Scholar and Caravan tours.

Dear Sir: I am writing to you about our Collette trip to Eastern Canada that started on July 25 and ended on August 1, 2017. Before I get into the details of this trip, I would like to tell you when we went on your Northern Lights in Iceland last fall, the trip was out outstanding. The tour guide, ******was fabulous as well at the bus driver. ****** did not only let us know where we were and why, but also gave us background about the site and its history. She also went into detail about the culture of the island, its inhabitants, and especially the legends of the Iceland. The hotels were placed in the right places and the food offerings were delicious. My wife and I were convinced that Collette Travel was the way to go. My wife and I were very interested in seeing Eastern Canada and we wanted to do it with Collette. On July 20, I went on Collette's web page to see if anything opened up through cancellations. Your Eastern Canada trip on July 25 had two seats available guaranteed I immediately called Collette and talked with a Collette agent and was told it was ok and would call me back. On July 21 the agent called back and said there were two seats available, but there was a questions about hotels. She said she would call me right back when she had a chance to check out the hotels availability. About an hour later she called back and said there were no tour price hotels available, but for normal hotel prices she could get rooms for us on the tour. The price for the hotels now added $700+ to our trip. She stated we had to pay higher rates since the original rooms had been turned back to the hotels based on company policy when trip dates got close and they were not sold. I questioned the agent why on the web site it showed Only Two Seats Available- Guaranteed. As a traveler, I thought it meant two seats for the trip to Eastern Canada. The day before our trip, July 24, I went back to your sight and the trips were still posted on it. My wife and I think it was wrong that we had to pay the extra $700+, but we wanted the trip. Hopefully some compensation can be made. Upon my agreement to take the trip I asked if the information packet about the trip would be available to us. I was told if I agreed to the trip before 5 pm that day it would be over nighted to our home. I gave the agent any additional information she needed before 5pm over the phone and asked to be connected to travel. The people at travel were excellent. We worked through different flights, airports, and times and came up with one that worked for us. I then said we would pay the extra $150 to be picked up at home and all transfers on the trip since we live over 55 miles from the airport. Saturday passed and Sunday noon came and no overnight packet from Collette. I called and she said they did not know why it did not come, but she would be in on Monday morning to check it out. In our conversation on Sunday I said it was too late to overnight it to our home, just overnight it to the first hotel on the trip and we get it on check in. It was not there. Therefore we had no name or luggage tags for the trip. The little package everyone got at the desk, stated any questions we may have, please see Collette agent in the lobby or bar wearing a green jacket. No one was there that evening and heard from other travelers he was at the airport picking up other customers. We were hoping to get our packet and some information on what there was to do that night in Montreal, but no help there, we were on our own. Usually Collette has a get acquainted dinner the first night so you know your fellow travelers and get questions answered. Not this trip. Next morning went to breakfast, fortunately no id needed, and went to the bus and met Jeff. Said he did not have packet with name tags etc., but would get us luggage tags by dinner. No name tags at dinner, but said he would bring them up shortly to our room. We went to bed a midnight, no tags. Wife was extremely worried about our luggage handling. When we woke up in morning they were under door. During first day of trip especially, ******* seemed very passive when asked questioned on bus. Having been a tour guide for 14 years it seemed strange. Everyone we spoke to on trip expressed same issue. Rest of week he warmed up until we got to Ottawa. In Montréal , Canada we enjoyed our first day and looked forward to the first excursions we had purchased for $90 each. It was a huge disappointment. The luncheon was average, the cheese store game tiny pieces if cheese to sample and the ice cream shop was ok. The excursion did nothing for telling us what Montreal was all about. The other travelers on this trip expressed the same concern. Please read other travelers on this trip evaluation. The days in Quebec City and the excursion there were great, the highlight of the trip. Everyone enjoyed the excursion and the tour guide. Highly recommended. We then proceeded to Ottawa, There was a big celebration in Ottawa for the 150 anniversary of Canada. Because of crowds we could not go to market, but went straight to the hotel. At the hotel they were not ready for us and ***&* let us sit around for an hour or so in the hotel awaiting our room keys. Meanwhile right outside the door of the hotel one of the main parts of the celebration was happening. All **** would have had to do was for us to leave our luggage we the hotel bell staff and let us enjoy the celebrations going on. Many of us felt Collette should have been aware of this event and had a plan in place for it. *****just could not handled it on his own. Later after dinner several of us understood what the celebration was all about and joined in the festivities. It was fabulous. Negara Falls was great and so was Niagara Lake. Everything went on time and our tour was set up perfectly. Great job. The excursion in Toronto was great, well worth the cost. What was interesting during the trip was that ***** seemed to prefer to stay by himself and dinners and lunches. On our trip to Iceland with Collette seemed to be a part of the group and add or clarify things was we went along. She was a part of the group and added tremendously to the trip and our experience. As in Iceland, the bus driver ***** was tremendous. He was always there to help us on and off the bus. He was very pleasant and answered all the questions we had. He always had the luggage on and off the bus quickly and assisted those who needed it. Great guy. My wife and I gave your trip included all parts a C. The trip and events except the first excursion was great and let up see Canada for its value. I told George when we left the bus the last time that I am glad Canada won the War of 1812 because of what Canada has become. My wife and I hope to take many more tours and hopefully with Collette. The extra payments for the hotels and how that was handled has left a sour taste in our mouths. Sorry for such a long letter, but our evaluation we left with ***** said the same thing. Example: one of our extras involved a large lunch, but we went to lunch almost immediately after a huge late breakfast at the Sugar Shack. Another example: in Omaha, we were dropped at a market to get beaver tails, but only had 45 minutes before needing to get on the bus to go to the hotel, followed by a short amount of down time before getting on the bus to go to dinner... when all of these things were a 5-10 minute walk from each other. We should have just been dropped off at the hotel and allowed to either meet at the restaurant or be picked up for dinner.

Hotels were excellent, food was excellent and tour director and driver were also excellent. Due to time constraints and traffic a restroom stop was not able to be taken on the long drive to Toronto.. We took the Toronto harbor boat tour. There was a bike lane which we had to cross to get to the bus. Apparently the bike lanes allow the riders the right of way and can go as fast as they like. I thought someone was going to get hit. Maybe a warning should be given to the tourists about this.

Too much rushed time. Spent too much time rushing from bus to meals, then bus again. Maybe another day added to enable one to see more of destinations. Would have preferred to pay more for this. Hotels were good no problem there, except for confusion over breakfast (two tours and late start of kitchen) and NO requested wake-up call, which was blamed on me but several others in our party did not get them either but did not mention this to hotel. This was at Hilton Quebec.

There were so many things, but one of the main things is that I have to eat gluten free or I will get sick, especially traveling. I have traveled many time before with no problems, but I have to do a lot of planning before hand to check out the different restaurants I will be going to make sure they offer gluten free options. On this tour to Canada, I called Colette beforehand to ask to speak to the tour guide or whoever would be in charge of meals so I could get the information I needed.They said that he was unavailable because he was on an other tour and couldn't be reached to talk to me. I told them my situation and asked WHO I could talk to then and they said there was no one and not to worry that Collette has taken care of the gluten free matter. I was very leery and had reason to be. I had a terrible time on the tour. The only place I felt safe was at the motels. They had certain gluten free stations or I would to speak to a chef that would accommodate me . But we only ate at motels for breakfast. The hardest part was when they dropped us off at these truck stop places and told us we had about 30 minutes. It took me most of that time going around from place to place trying to find something I could eat. By the time I found something, most everyone else was heading back on the bus. One time all I could find was some little carrot sticks and some cheese. It was an awful experience and I was and still am very disappointed. I also felt the tour had too many people. The tour guide used no tactics to get us acquainted with each other like other tour guides have done in the past. There were also not tactics used in the bus seating arrangements like other past tours where for example the left side would get off first one time and the right the next, or all the front people sit in the back next time and the back sit in the front. So the same people sat in the same places and the same people sat in the front most of the whole tour which I thought was unfair and rude. I also felt there was not enough time at the stops to see shops. Especially at Niagara on the Lakes. The whole tour seemed rush, rush, rush. Not restful at all. Up early to catch the bus and up late at nights. I really would like a refund to be honest. In the past I've had good results with Collette, but not this time. It make me leery to travel with Collette again. Especially after being told the gluten free was taken care of for me and then being left on my own most of the whole trip to find it. I am asking for a refund.

The tour guide showed excellent knowledge of the areas visited. He also exhibited extreme patience in dealing and minimizing the affect of several rude and improper social behaviors of guests in the group. I am sure I could not of handled them as well as he did. He was very organized and made exceptional support for the wheel chair guest in the group. I was impressed with his kindness to him to make sure he enjoyed the tour. The tour guide reminds me why I prefer Collette Tours above all others..... My 4th tour with Collette. Great Job again!!!!

I feel our tour manager was not helpful at all with any of our personal struggles, like my wife having to eat gluten free. This was our 4th tour, had it been our first I would never go on another.

Our tour guide was horrible! He hardly spoke during the entire tour - gave us very little information about Canada, etc. He was rude to fellow passengers and wouldn't answer simple question about Canada stating that Collette would not let him talk about sensitive issues - like why did Quebec want to leave the rest of Canada, anything about the First Nation people,and the list goes on. He was bored and boring. Mostly went over the daily schedule over and over again but would not distribute a written itinerary for the day like most tour guides do. Made us turn in our evaluation to him directly instead of mailing them to Collette so he could toss the ones that were unfavorable.

I would have liked to have more food options and they should have been selected PRIOR to arrival at the restaurant. Tour guide did not utilize seat rotation on bus. Tour guide asked about additional tours and had people sign up. Then he advised what you could do if you didn't take the additional tours. I would have liked to be presented with both options at the same time.

The Collette tour director was extremely helpful as was the bus driver. The hotels were conveniently located and were good except that the bags were just placed on the floor in room instead of being put up on luggage racks by hotel staff. After traveling all day and being an older woman who stuggles to lift heavy bags, I find that very disconcerting. The tour-iincluded meals were good all except the last night. The tour director was excellent at making the information about the places we toured very interesting and the choices of what we saw was excellent. I have traveled before and plan to travel again with Collette Tours.

Enjoying the good job Montreal has done with the blending of their new architecture with the old. It was a wonderful surprise as I had expected to enjoy the history of Quebec and sight of Niagara Falls - which I did. But the outstanding memory I have is the great skyline of Montreal.

This trip was so perfect it is impossible to find anything to complain about. Our tour guide went out of his way to make sure everything was okay. Our hotel rooms were fantastic and the included meals were very good. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and told us tons of details about each place we visited. He was always available and went out of his way to be sure we were having a good time. AND the bus driver was also very good, careful, friendly and knew where he was going at all times.

I already informed you that you gave me a flight number from United Airlines and then it turned out that I was on a different flight number from Canada Air, so that the wrong airline and flight number could have been disastrous and was a fairly major flaw. My final hotel tried to charge me $17.00 for a breakfast I'd already paid for and was entitled to. That was probably more their error than yours though. The optional tour called something like aromas of Canada was a total rip off since it cost 85.00 dollars and included only a routine meal and a walk around town that included tasting one piece of cheese and a small ice cream sample, hardly worth all of that money. The second optional tour was better and even cheaper. I did not take the third optional tour. Forty people on a tour is way too many. My previous tour of Greece had a much smaller group and was therefore much better. The tour guide was fine, but too many people made too many demands on him, so a small er groupwould hver been better for him and for us.

You should plan for 2 nights in each city. All hotels were nice except for the Hilton in Quebec. Breakfasts were all great. Dinners generally good, but too long in duration.

My First Collette Trip

This was my first trip with Collette, so I had nothing to compare. Every detail was taken care of - all of the transportation connections; the included meals; and the tour manager was awesome. We did not know we were to become part of such a large group, many of whom already knew each other. It all worked out fine. The estimates given for the cost of meals not included was too low as we visited high tourist areas. Our bus driver was spectacular, even though I felt we spent too much time on the bus.

Our tour manager was awesome. It was a large group and she handled the different needs and personalities professionally. The accommodations in Montreal were excellent; beyond that they were just okay as the rooms got smaller and smaller. It was very nice to find our luggage already delivered to our room at each hotel.The hotels were well located and very central to many sights. It would have been lovely to spend an extra day in Ottawa since it is the capitol and there was a lot to see and do. The connecting transportation was very good with the exception of the last connection from our Toronto hotel to the airport. That driver was late and expected a tip at the airport. Also, the listed average cost of meals for those not included in the itinerary was way too low as we were in high tourist areas. We spent a lot of time commuting by bus, which quickly got tiresome. Several of the halfway point/bathroom breaks were at truck stops. I had many favorites during the trip, but if I had to pick just one it would be Niagra Falls. It is one spectacular sight to behold. As a vegetarian, our Tour Manager made us feel included and offered meal suggestions. I felt safe and protected the entire journey and met some lovely people. I would definitely travel with Collette again.

The excursions were good and provided the best meals. The dinners provided with the travel package were not that good, choice of chicken, salmon and a meat, standard fare. Our outbound flights were re-booked with two different airlines because of connection problems and that caused a disconnect between United and Air Canada. Because of the disconnect, out luggage was not checked thru to our final destination. We spent one day with no luggage, prescription medication, etc.

Make no mistake, this a bus tour and you will be riding for extended periods of time, living out of a suitcase and on Collette's schedule. You fly into Monreal, ride to Quebec and then backtrack to Montreal and then on to Ottowa, about a 4.5 hour ride. The tour guide said Quebec has less flights than Montreal and that's why the trip is scheduled in this manner. The tour guide was good and knowledgeable. Breakfast included with the package are in the hotels and that was OK. The dinners included were very predictable, chicken, salmon and another meat. The additional excursions were good and provided the best dinners and sights. Our farewell dinner was re-scheduled from a nice restaurant to the Sheraton in Toronto (final nights stay) and was very disappointing. The food was low end banquet type and we were offered a choice of wine after everyone had finished eating entrees. We would not do this kind of trip again, by the end of the week, we were ready to get off that bus and discontinue being herded like cattle. If you choose to do this trip, be sure your luggage is checked thru to your final destination as Collette screwed up our outbound flights and subsequently caused our luggage to lag behind us for one day.

The only comment I have is the pickup service at the Montreal airport was terrible. We (party of 4 seniors) waited 45 minutes before having to call the 800 number to see where the driver was only to be told he was waiting for us. The waiting area was "empty" and he said didn't you see me sitting over there. Then he dropped us off at the wrong hotel where we needed to get a cab to take us to the correct hotel. His sign was 8" by 12" with Collette's name in the small font. Not good. The Fish Market Restaurant was terrible. So cold (they couldn't do anything about it) and service was extremely slow. Fish and chips was terribly greasy. Other than that, the trip was excellent and other restaurants were excellent. I would recommend Collette again.

This was the main reason for our trip to begin with. We would have liked more time to see the aquarium and tower in Toronto. Daniel could benefit from some coaching. On other tours the Tour Managers did not eat meals with the guests. I think Daniel talked about his life more than was necessary.
