Everything was great. The tour leaders, local guides (excellent on their knowledge), food (fantastic) and servers, accommodations., amazing “captains” who steered the boat into and out of locks and over low spots on the river. So much to see, loved it. My favorite was Heidelburg.

The ship we cruised on was the beautiful MS Amadeus Imperial which was only three years old. Small ship (168 passengers maximum) cruising is really awesome! I can’t begin to tell you enough good things about the ship. The crew was absolutely amazing—friendly and eager to chat with us, getting to know us and we getting to know them. Every day we had presentations about the sites we were seeing if we were cruising or a preview of the towns we were visiting the next day. Each day we stopped along the river and took guided tours of the town complete with tours of castles, cathedrals, the canals of Amsterdam, and more. They kept us busy from morning till late at night. Three meals a day—with 3 courses at lunch and 4 courses at dinner plus a full tea in the afternoon. Wine and beer were included with the meals as well. In the evenings we were entertained by a musical duo (piano and singer), an oompah band, or fun and games with the crew.

Over all the trip was very good. The transportation company that picked up my group was late and did not bring a bus large enough for luggage and travelers. The driver was old and could not load the luggage, resulting in travelers helping lto oad and unloadi the luggage. Walking parts of the tour were strenuous for some travelers. Buses did not have any water for purchase. On the return trip we were meet by the same bus and driver resulting in some luggage being damaged. I would like to have have a different transpotation company for future trips..

I was very disappointed in the food on the Amadeus. Ever day, lunch and dinner we were given a choice of fish or something else. The fish was over cooked or looked as though it had been sitting out for some time. Not fresh. We were expecting more local foods, snitzel, brockwurst, and others.

Very good. Almost excellent The best thing was “gentle walkers “ . Strasbourg, walking tour did not have gentle walkers, and was a bit too strenuous for some. Disembarking orientation was a bit confusing. Food staff and housekeeping were absolutely excellent.

Disappointing given the premium pricing we chose to pay foran above and bed

Should have many more INCLUDED bus tours, boat tours etc. Walking tours are fine at the beginning but cobblestones and seniir citizens ate not a good match. Many people were excluded and in fact discouraged from taking the only included bus tour. 15/50 attended. That was the time to rethink the trip and offer an alternative. The weather was inclement mist of the trip so walking was particularly hard and no changes were made to improve the situation. .

Not enough extras included for the premium price. Airfare and airport navigation with luggage was horribly lacking. Again, this was a predominantly elderly group who shlepped their luggage all over the Frankfurt. Very poor planning By Collette..

Good boat trip but outside town & city tours were too fast and dark.

Trip Rating:

The boat trip was very good but the walking events to/from the towns were too hurried and didn’t allow much time for shop browsing and item purchasing. On the last day the bus trip to the Black Forest and nearby villages was too hurried, too fast and the day was too dark to make it of any value. The Coocu clock shop was interesting but the time there in the adjacent shops was not meaningful. The last meal was good but the owner was a little disrespectful and condescending when we asked him for either more wine, beer or soda and said we would pay for the extra drinks. He said no in a flippant manner.

Our tour manager, Polina, was very good and tried to make the walking tours more accommodating for the slow and fast walkers. However she couldn’t control the time length of walking and the time spent in the town centers for browsing and shopping. Overall, it was very hurried experience.

The next to last day of trip ruined whole experience. Got off boat at 8:30 am and was on road until 9:45 pm, when we arrived at destination. Then had to be out of hotel by 8:30 am to take flight home. Exhausting end to trip.

The tour on the ship was wonderful & we met some very nice people!

No one from the Senior Center in our home town went with us! We had to pay an extra $1200 for air fare because we were told even though we were taking someone else’s place because of a cancellation the price had gone up & was not transferable! The schedule on our return flight had us arriving in Chicago @ 1pm. We had to go thru Baggage Claim & Customs, then bus to the Terminal & leave from gate #23 @ 2:30. Four of the ten from our group hustled & made the flight! The other six took the next American Air Lines flight & got to St Louis about 45 min later! Why in the world did we not fly from Quincy to Chicago or take the train & do the same on our return from Chicago to Quincy? Skipping going to St Louis makes sense to us!

Loved the rivers.

Loved the trip, all but the flights. As usual, we had several bad experiences at JFK. Too many plane changes, could have been a couple of direct flights involved. Will probably make my own flight plans next time. Being aboard the boat was nice., not having to change hotels every 2 nights. All-in-all, looking forward to the next adventure.

Thoroughly enjoyable trip!

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip. Excellent itinerary, great guide, comfortable accomodations, excellent food, etc. My only complaints were the flights. Not having nonstop flights was a real pain. I am recently widowed and had to struggle through the airports to catch connecting flights both ways. Most of our group was elderly and it was a hardship for them as well. I would be willing to pay more to get a direct flight. My only other complaint was the wifi service, which was pretty much nonexistent on the ship.

We stopped at a lot of very interesting cities. The local guides were excellent. The staff on the ship did a great job Terri R did a wonderful job of keeping us on track. We would of liked a little more free time in some of the smaller cities. We also liked the ship and the fact we were able to be onboard for meals.

Two Star Cruise Ship

Collette needs to improve upon delivering what was originally promised pre tour and what was provided during the tour. The itinerary was very good with knowledgeable guides as promised but failed to provide a ship that would meet our expectations as promised of local food and entertainment.

Not nearly as enjoyable as it could have been.

Trip Rating:

Advised the group about having Eruos on hand for the toilet facilities, arranged with a few merchants or restaurants within each port for facilities and provided us with a token that Collette (or the Tour Manager) would have reimbursed them for. This would have prevented such long lines and made our 'free time' more free and enjoyable. Also, advised us about options so we actually COULD enjoy any of the Amsterdam options that they told us about, e-mailed us about and dangled in front of us as enticments.

I would rate it between 3 & 4 stars. We had been told that excursions could be paid by credit card. The ship only wanted Euros because of an antiquated system that did not take credit. We were told the ship was one that Tauck used. While the ship was OK, I don't think it was the caliber of Tauck. The food was OK but I expected more regional dishes. It seemed to be more Americanized, ie, more pasta instead of German potato salad. or sausages.

We had fun at a beer hall that we went to in one of the towns. We had also asked one of the guides for a local eatery to enjoy some of the local cuisine. Both of these excursions were very enjoyable. We did a lot of enjoyable walking in Amsterdam and the canal cruise was a great experience.

Cabins very small, beds small and no space between. too much walking..

communication between the Tour Guide and USA. Driver to Frankfurt Airport wasn't familiar with the airport. Tour should have been direct from Boston to Amsterdam. No need for tour to go to Frankfurt...no time to see anything but the airport. Walked 2 miles on return between Frankfurt and Heathrow. Schedule tour so that town is open. Our stop in Rudesheiem was on a Sunday after 7PM. Geermany is closed on Sunday. Walked in rain where a little tram was right by our boat to take people into the town. Couldn't go as a group for the Kaffee and find our way back to boat in the dark..no guide (she left). Couldn't change tables at meals..always had to sit with the same people (all meals). Buffet lunch would have been nice. Meals were good but did not need full meal at lunch. Not enough time in Heidelberg after castle tour.

Loved cruising, organization sould have been better.

Our tour manager was not as available as he should have been. He didn't prepare us very well and didn't give us any advise on things like tips, best placed to go, etc. Didn't have enough time for shopping and self exploration. Local guides were knowledgeable but didn't really show us inside the castles. More history lesson outside but no actual tour of castle.

Going through all the different kinds of locks on the river, each one was different. Loved viewing the scenery going by. Loved not having to unpack at each stop. Met some awesome people, not just in our group.

Trip was very good except the first day we flew into Amsterdam. We arrived at 5:50 a.m. and couldn't board the ship until 3 or 4 p.m. After flying all night it was a very long day. Either a later flight or planned activity would have been much better since we were all tired from flying all night. Not very well planned. Also even though we booked our trip a long time ago, the seats from on plane from Zurich to Amsterdam were in the next to last row and we had a tight connection to get to in Amsterdam & weren't sure if we could make it. I also was not seated next to my traveling companion. This wasn't the best Collette trip I have gone on.

I would have enjoyed more time in the smaller villages. Also when we signed up for the trip we didn't know 2 days would be German holidays and most of the restaurants and stores were closed.

The itinerary was very nice, but there were too many stops along the river. We would have preferred a full day at each city/village to enjoy the local culture. Tittisee was a total waste! We had no time at the end of our tour to shop or buy a cuckoo clock!

River Cruise 2019

Collette is a wonderful company to tour with. This was our second trip with them and we would highly recommend the company. Every need was met (plus some!), the knowledge of the area your traveling in is great and shared well with the travelers. The time with the others traveling with you, known or unknown, is icing on the cake!

The tour was fabulous! Seeing the sights on land or by water was simply amazing. Loved having the local guides and getting to see and hear about so much of the area’s history. Just wish we had had more time to stay in each port. There are so many wonderful memories, but my favorite one is the day spent on the boat seeing the castles along the Moselle River.

Couldn’t be happier!

The planning and orchestration for our Magical Rhine and Moselle trip was outstanding! I was especially impressed with the guides in the cities we visited. They were knowledgeable, fun, and kind. The ship was comfortable and clean. The buss trip on the last day provided additional opportunities to see beautiful cities in France and the Black Forest.

I loved Colmar! In addition to what we previous stated, we want to give special praise to Ana, our tour manager. She was able to facilitate the return to the US of my husband’s hearing aid which was lost on the ship.

Fun trip, for the most part

Your tour was very well managed until the final day. Crowding over 12 hours of activities into the final day was overkill. Exhaustion hit everyone, including our tour guide. Given that most folks had at least 12 hours of flight facing them, I believe something could have been deleted. Also, for anyone coming back to the US through JFK, the time allotted to go through Customs, get luggage, recheck it, then go through the incredibly slow TSA lines, was not even close to sufficient. Had we not been able to catch one of the carts to our departure gate, we would have missed our flight home. As it was, we had to really hustle past the final 9 gates where the cart couldn’t go.

A good time on the Rhine but fell short in other areas.

We have no complaint about Collette on the Silver III. The food and drink was fantastic The dedicated crew made it all work. Almost everything was top notch from the arrival at Amsterdam to going home at Zurich. Jane Pritchett was one of the best tour managers we have met on tour. Very knowledgeable with all facets of the trip.

As previously noted the Amadeus crew made the trip memorable and on board cabins were super. The meals and drinks were fantastic.Hats off to the chef and kitchen crew.The walking tours were great and were needed after all the food we consumed. I would take issue with the value of the optional excursion to Heidelberg Castle. We got a bus ride to the castle, got a historic overview but no tour of the interior. A 2 hour shopping opportunity in the area and back to the boat.Hardly worth $80 ea.Embarkation from the boat went smoothly and on the road again toward Zurich. The meal at the Black Forest clock outlet was great although food selection waned toward the end of the meal line. The Zurich Movenpick was another story, however.Upon arrival there wasn't enough staff to handle the bags. Fellow travelers unloaded their bags and took them up to their own rooms. The AC must have been turned off for the season as the rooms were warm but the common areas were cooled.I had to get our key cards redone at the front desk as neither card worked.

Entire admin/registration process needs to be upgraded and streamlined.

Administration/registration is inadequate. Telephone only contact. Website does not allow for customer direct input. Have to ask for invoices as payments are made. Not enough detail, only summary. Cannot check for accuracy in customer detail prior to final paperwork.

We had a great time. Met by personal at airport with guide taking us to boat and again with us at the airport when we departed. Personal guide was always looking out for us when on tours and being sure everyone was where they should be,. Crew all friendly and courteous and accommodations were wonderful. A great trip to remember.

We had great weather and all our stops had very good tour guides. Felt very safe and accommodated well on this river cruise. Lost a hearing aid and Ana our tour guide for the cruise helped in every way possible with the staff of the boat finding the aid between cruises in cleanup. Ana coordinated the return to our home within days after the cruise. She was a very good guide and helpful to us.

Tour was fine with lots of walking. My most memorable experience was an excursion that was not part of the tour, the day we ventured to see the windmills, wooden shoe demo, etc. If you had asked if anything was disappointing, I would have told you about the food on board the ship.

I enjoyed all of the places we visited. The ones that stand out most are Lucerne, Heidelberg, Rüdesheim, Notre Dame, Speyer and Amsterdam.

Tours off of the riverboat were very disorganized. Info received from front desk changed from day to day.

This was my fourth and, so far, my favorite Collette tour. The Collette tour managers are always excellent.

I loved the river cruise because of being able to completely unpack my suitcase for the week on the boat. Highlights of the cruise were the afternoon sailing past all the amazing castles along the Rhine followed the next morning by the beauty along the Moselle River. I also enjoyed all of the excursions into the many villages and cities we visited. Each had its own ambiance.

Most beautiful tour.

The entire tour was wonderful. The River cruise, all the tours of each town we stopped in was great. The tour guides were informative and very friendly. Joe Michalczyk was our tour manager and I did not worry about anything. This was our 2nd trip with Collette and we have booked a trip through Joe in June.

Amazing trip with awesome people.

Our tour guide Greg was very knowledgeable and friendly. He went above and beyond to make sure our trip was awesome. I thought he was more knowledgeable then the local tour guides. They were good also, but I received more information from Greg. I would hope that Greg would be our guide on our next trip. The staff aboard the ship was incredible & friendly. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The food was too delicious for my waistline!! I would take another trip with Collette anytime.

Make sure you can plan ahead

the tour was good, but I wish we had more information before we left. My husband are younger than the average traveler with this tour (mid 40's and fit), and we could have used the additional time in towns to tour on our own (we are not shoppers) if we had more detail of what the city tours would see and where we would be. the guides are great, and the boat is accommodating, but we simply felt we could have gotten so much more of our only visits to so many places had we had better information for planning ahead of time.

Although this was a very nice tour, I did find many options with better pricing that I feel might have been a better fit. This was the choice due to traveling mates who needed to structure of going through our local chamber. Value for bucks, I didnt feel it was special.

Excellent; however, we'd prefer more time to explorer cities alone.

Our room was very comfortable, the food excellent, services of all kinds were very good! We had no knowledge of how busy our itinerary would be. If we were to travel with Collette again, I would sign up for a river cruise offering 2 mornings (perhaps a longer cruise) to explorer a city seen the previous day with our Collette tour guide.

The Heidelberg and Strasbourg Tours were our favorites. More time alone for shopping/touring cities would be appreciated.

A wonderful adventure.

This was one of the most enjoyable trips I have been on in a long time. Everything was well planned and all of the guides were very familiar with our tours. They gave excellent information about the background of the cities, castles, churches, and answered any questions we had. I would not hesitate to recommend this river cruise for anyone wanting to experience one. The ship and its crew were very accommodating. They took care of any and all of our "wants". Thank you for this well organized adventure!

I definitely would consider Collette for future travel plans. I liked that we were a smaller ship/group than the Viking tours we saw going down the River. There was definitely a sense of cameraderie among all the passengers. The meals were all gourmet, perfectly portioned and prepared.

The cruise itself has to be the most incredible experience. However the overnight stay in Zurich was my least favorite part of the trip. Too much time on our hands there. Hotel was not prepared to handle the number of people staying there making the service, dinner meal and breakfast a nightmere.

Everything was as expected. The only thing that could have been a little better would be a little more free time in some ports. Possibly the option of having lunch in the town rather that going back to ship for every lunch. Offer guidance back to ship for those opting for lunch in the town.

They treated us like royalty. Everyone was gracious, courteous and very accommodating. The tours were excellent and we had the option to just stay on board the ship if we wanted to. It was the trip of a lifetime for us.

The beautiful cruise through the Rhine Valley to see the castles while enjoying a traditional German meal on the sundeck was the highlight of the trip for us. We also thoroughly enjoyed an optional cruise on Lake Lucerne. The views of the mountains and architecture were incredibly beautiful and peaceful.

Enjoyable-Relaxing-Enriching-Infomative-Pleasurable

The Collete tour guides were very competent-professional and respectful. They madeeach and every one like they were the only passenger. The boat was new-2016 and the acomadationswere adequate in space. Food selection good. Boat staff were as equally good. Each port of call was handled by local guides who were informed and their English was excellent. This is my 2nd trip with Collette and I was not disappointed either time. I would recommend them to anyone and I have since return from the River Cruise.

Was a wonderful cruise, but could have been better!!!

You could have provided sodas with all meals!! Did not like that you charged for water in the rooms & if we took bottled water on our walking tours, we had to buy that also!! Also, you had no other options for meals, only eat in the restaurant!!

Every port was beautiful, but a lot of walking!! Enjoyed the gentle walking tours when they were offered!! The canal cruise in Amsterdam was very interesting! Also enjoyed the Black Forest trip!!

Loving River Cruises

I am becoming a real fan of river cruises. The casual pace while cruising, the attention to passengers needs, and the smaller passenger list, are very welcoming. The Tour Manager, Silvia, went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time. The Gentle Walking group really appreciated Silvia's arranging for the slightly challenged of us to have a slower pace. All of the optional tours were outstanding. The only change would be to have a little more time to explore at the various stops. Even if there were fewer stops with more time allotted it would be better.

Visit to Reichsburg Castle was very interesting, but should have had transportation to/from ship (very long walk). Optional excursion to Heidelberg was very educational and interesting (wine barrels).

This was a poor trip

Yes the trip was over priced and we did not receive what was highlighted in the brochure. Also airfare was high and the airline (Delta) was the worst experience we ever experienced. They were poor in seating and service.

Airfare overpriced and Tour under performed.

Trip Rating:

Airline (Delta) was bad cramped seats and poor service. We will never fly with Delta again as it was that bad. I literally weigh 160lbs and I had a difficult time getting into and out of what they use as seats. Also the tour was not what we purchased. The Mozart suite was supposed to have an outside deck with two chairs. When we arrived I advised them that this was not our suite as it did not have an outside deck. I was advised that this was all they could offer.
